This morning, DCWUK had the privilege of speaking to the Year 11s at Prendergast Ladywell School. With exam season and life after school on the horizon, it was powerful to connect with young people who are right on the edge of their next chapter.
We introduced our VMS – Volunteer Mentoring Scheme, a programme designed to support students as they transition out of school, offering guidance, real-world insights, and positive role models. We also shared opportunities for volunteering, leadership and community involvement for any young people who want to grow, give back, and build their future with confidence.
I’m always energised by working with youth — they are the next generation, and investing in them truly matters.
A huge thank you to Khadine Shaw for organising today’s assembly and to Lubna Hoque for attending and supporting.
I’m really looking forward to sharing more from today, especially the powerful student voice we collected around the question:
“How can we support you after you leave school?”
Excited for what’s ahead. 💫
