We’re proud to share a powerful case study from DCWUK highlighting the journey of Nynke Brouwer — from mentee to Youth Trustee.
Our journey began through the University of Westminster mentoring programme, where I had the privilege of mentoring Nynke. It quickly became clear she had something special — drive, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to growth. That potential led her to join DCWUK as a volunteer… and she hasn’t looked back since.
Today, Nynke is an integral part of our organisation. As a Trustee, she has supported our CIO application, strengthened governance and compliance, co-hosted board meetings, and brought a fresh, international perspective as our youngest board member.

Her impact goes beyond leadership. Nynke has helped us deepen engagement with young people, facilitate student work placements, and contribute to a wider impact — supporting over 200 individuals, building 5 partnerships, and delivering 10 community programmes.
This is what transformation looks like.
Not just participation — progression.
Not just support — leadership.
At DCWUK, we are committed to creating real pathways for people to grow into positions of influence and impact.
Nynke’s journey is exactly that.
